A leading global retailer has shared some tips to shoppers on how to stop bananas inside the bins as they are likely to deteriorate quickly.

When shoppers hit the grocery stores, they usually make sure to load up their carts with bananas. However, what's most concerning is how quickly bananas tend to become brown or too mushy shortly after purchase.

To prevent tossing them in the bin without eating them, Tesco, a top UK grocery chain, has offered the simplest and most brilliant advice: “Freeze your bananas.”

Simple right?...Well, the supermarket shared the advise on its website in a regular segment titled "Tips and Trends," highlighting surprising tips such as things you don’t know you could freeze, with a clear focus on shoppers' favourite - bananas.

"Using your freezer for just ice cubes and a packet of frozen peas? Wondering whether you can freeze milk? Freezers are the most efficient when they are full, so make the most of the space to prevent food waste and have ingredients ready to go,” Tesco said on its website.

"From milk and cheese to veg and rice, your freezer can do it all."

“When you're ready to use them, they can be taken straight from the freezer and added to smoothies.”

Tesco advised peeling ripe bananas and freezing them either whole or in slices.

“These can be used straight from the freezer, perfect for cold, thick smoothies”

Tesco described this incredibly easy method of using frozen bananas as an way to create a banana ice cream.
