This February, as love birds globally celebrate romance, South African model Minki van der Westhuizen recently turned her Instagram into a travel diary, providing delightful glimpses of her snowy escape with husband Ernst Joubert in France.

Swapping Mzansi’s summer temperatures for the refreshing chill of the snow-capped French Alps, the couple's journey is the perfect blend of adventure and affection.

From picturesque Paris to Briançon, the highest city in France, the couple indulged in the scenic beauty and sumptuous flavours of the region.

Van der Westhuizen, bubbling with enthusiasm, shared: “I ❤️ Paris. 24 hours in the 'city of love' with my darling @ernstjoubert and the best visit at our dearest Gustards!!”

The couple's time in the city of love was filled with shared laughter and sweet moments, indulging in delightful regional treats, including exquisite custards.

Their stay at the all-inclusive Club Med Serre Chevalier allowed them to fully immerse themselves in the winter wonderland.

With over 250km of slopes, this expansive ski area caters to both novices and seasoned skiers.

Van der Westhuizen embraced the challenge of the slopes.

“Me on the baby slopes vs how I think I look on the baby slope 🤣 😝,” she shared with her followers.

As South Africans increasingly seek unique travel experiences, destinations like the French Alps are rising in popularity. Traditionally, many Mzansi natives flock towards sun-soaked beach holidays, but a noticeable shift has begun.

With the allure of pristine alpine landscapes, thrilling ski slopes, and the warm, inviting atmosphere of après-ski, an increasing number of adventurers are trading flip-flops for snow boots.

As Van der Westhuizen's journey demonstrates, the whimsical charm and beauty of the French Alps captivate the hearts of many, setting a new trend for romantic escapades during this month of love.
