A self-employed father's R10 lottery ticket turned into a life-changing R8.4 million win, offering him the chance to expand his business and finally enjoy his passion for soccer matches.
He bought his ticket on a banking app and chose his own winning numbers.
The man said when he received the news of his win, he immediately prayed to thank God.
While many might envision lavish spending following a lottery win, this father has a clear vision for his newfound wealth.
He plans to invest the winnings back into his business, with the hope of fostering growth and stability that will secure a brighter future for his loved ones.
"I've never won such a large amount of money before. I'm very excited to better my life and that of my family," said the winner.
In addition to his ambitious business aspirations, the winner also hopes to reclaim some of life's simple pleasures, which he has long had to sacrifice due to the demands of business. That, he said, was watching soccer matches.
“This incredible win will not only allow me to enjoy life’s simple pleasures, but the ones I truly cherish, like attending soccer matches. Weekends are typically the busiest time for my business, so I haven't been able to enjoy watching the games. Now, I can treat myself to some well-deserved time off to catch the action on the field,” said the winner.
Charmaine Mabuza, the CEO of Ithuba, the operator of the National Lottery, said she was happy for the father and his business.
"We're excited for this gentleman and are rooting for his business to grow and prosper now that he has the necessary funds to really spread his wings in the business space. We wish him and his family all the best," said Mabuza.
