The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Liberia Côte d’Ivoire and Malawi have reaffirmed, during their visits this January 2025 to Morocco, their full unwavering support for Morocco's territorial integrity and sovereignty, including the Western Sahara region.
This position was expressed by Malawi in a joint statement signed at the end of talks between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and his Malawian peer, Nancy Tembo.
In the statement, Mrs Tembo also welcomed the growing international consensus and momentum led by the Moroccan Monarch, in favour of the Autonomy Plan, describing it as the only credible, serious and realistic solution. It also welcomed the efforts of the United Nations as the exclusive framework for achieving a realistic, practical and lasting solution to the Sahara regional dispute.
The Liberian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sara Beysolow Nyanti expressed the same position, on 17 January in Laayoune, during the third session of the Morocco-Liberia Joint Cooperation Commission, in which he stressed the constant position of the Republic of Liberia in favour of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco over its entire territory, including the Sahara region.
During a press briefing following her talks with her Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita, the Liberian foreign minister expressed her country’s support for the autonomy plan put forward by Morocco, as the only credible and realistic solution for resolving this regional dispute.
