Leading radio and television broadcaster Tbo Touch, real name Thabo Molefe, is using his love for gospel and spiritual awakening to bring music lovers a spiritually-charged lifestyle inspired gospel concert, The Replenishment Concert.
Dubbed the “Coachella of Gospel”, Touch, as he is affectionately known, told The Star on Wednesday that his concert, to be staged at the Supersport Park Stadium on September 28 in Centurion, will soon touch down for KZN and Cape Town fans.
“King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has already spoken to me, saying he would love for the concert to come to KZN. So, definitely, the concert will be coming to KZN and Cape Town,” he said.
With a diverse line-up of gospel stars, and other musical and lifestyle-oriented entertainment on the bill, Touch said the Supersport Park Stadium in Centurion will come alive with the sounds of praise and worship but, most off all, be an all-rounded family inspired picnic styled affair.
Now in its third year, the annual event is close to the heart of the 43-year-old broadcaster whose spiritual piety stems from having been raised in a spiritually inclined family setting.
This year’s headline act is the legendary gospel singer, Dr Rebecca Malope, who is set to receive a special honour during the concert. Other artists in the line up are Dr Tumi, Sbu Noah, Lebo Sekgobela, Dumi Mkokstad, and more.
TKZee member and respected cleric, pastor Kabelo Bouga Luv Mabalane’ is among those earmarked to revive spirits as a guest speaker. Children will also enjoy a bevy of activities in a designated kiddies area where nannies will be on hand to take care of them as parents enjoy themselves.
On the concert being the Coachella of Gospel, the Metro FM radio host, who usually sparks inspirational and gospel inspired conversations on his show, said this is because the concert is not only about gospel music but has other lifestyle elements attached to it.
“There are many other activities that music fans and gospel music lovers can enjoy with their family,” he said. “People can bring their picnic blankets and pillows while children have a range of entertainment including slides.
“It is a fun-filled experience where people from all walks of live have a chance to replenish and enjoy themselves over a wide range of music curated for their spiritual awakening and pleasure.”
Besides the concert becoming a success, Touch told The Star that the concert will soon develop into a fully-fledged music production through an upcoming eponymous gospel album.
“I am saying this in public for the first time, but my fans who have been with me all these years can watch out for the Replenishment gospel album which will feature original compositions alongside music producers such as Zakes Bantwini,” he said.
