Veteran radio presenter Nick Hamman is celebrating his new position at 5FM.
Hamman, who is popularly known for hosting “5 Drive”, will soon be hosting 5FM’s breakfast show, “5 Breakfast”, along with Thabo Baloyi on news, Xoli Zondo on sport and Marli van Eeden on traffic duty.
The show airs on weekdays from 6am to 9am.
Taking to Instagram, Hamman shared: “Hey guys. I've accepted an offer from 5FM to host the breakfast show from next month. I'll tell you more later, but for now, I just want to celebrate a moment that's been 10 years in the making. See you 6AM on 1 July 2024.”
Hamman is not the only one embracing change.
The station recently announced several changes that will be effective from Monday, July 1.
Its statement read: “The station has been consistently moving from strength to strength, with power partnerships with prominent national and multinational brands, as well as numerous first tier nominations and awards, and its new line-up, featuring a couple of cool shuffles and the introduction of even more hot property talent, is geared to set the airwaves on fire.”
Much-loved radio and TV presenter, Zanele Potelwa, also has reason to celebrate.
Potelwa, who was recently announced as the new host of “Tropika Island of Treasure” 2024, will be taking over as the host of “5 Drive”, a position that Hamman held for a decade.
Currently, Potelwa hosts “5 Lunch”.
Nick Archibald, will co-host alongside Potelwa, with Yanga Mjoli on news.
The mid-morning show will see Yonaka Theledi joining host Stephanie Be in studio from 9am to 12pm.
Meanwhile, professional DJ Lula Odiba, real name, Keletso Bonolo Modiba, who previously presented on YFM, has joined the 5FM team and will be hosting “5 Lunch” on weekdays from 12pm to 3pm.
Odiba will be joined by “5 Drive’s” Nadia Romanos on news.
The 5FM weekend line-up has also changed.
Harrison Mkhize, who currently hosts “5 Weekend Nights”, will now host “Top 40 on 5”, airing between 10am and 2pm.
“The Saturday Sizzle on 5” with Austin Cassim will be extended to run from 6pm to 9pm with Kyle Cassim, moving back to the Saturday from 9pm to 12am for “The Kyle Cassim Show on 5”.
