Following his wonder strike which helped seal the win for Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday, coach Nasreddine Nabi has sung the praises of teenager Mfundo Vilakazi.
The 18-year-old scored the stunning winner with 11 minutes remaining in their Betway Premiership clash, as Chiefs won their opening game of the season for the first time since their 2019/2020 campaign.
Vilakazi turned out to be the hero as he struck a cross into the corner of goal from the edge of the area, after a quick Chiefs counter attack in the 79th minute.
Chiefs’ 2-1 win over Marumo Gallants was the perfect start as they begin their rebuilding phase after they finished way down in 10th in the league table last season.

‘He’s a big talent’
Nabi told SuperSport after the match, that it would be his mission to shield his young star from the media.
“Vilakazi is a young boy, he has a big talent and I do protect him. I protect him from the media,” said Nabi.
“He’s a big talent in South Africa, I love him, so I need to protect him.”
Star performers and new talents emerging aside, Nabi said it was vital his charges won the game.
“I think the [big] thing about the game is three points. Team spirit and winning attitude, the new players … I’m very happy. But I really have too much work, to cook, like what the fans [are saying]
“Please give me time, lovely club, lovely fans. If you give me time I promise you I’ll be cooking for you - a big team. But I’m not very happy with too many things.”
