Despite suffering their second loss of their Betway Premiership campaign with their 1-0 defeat to TS Galaxy on Tuesday evening, it is no cause for concern for Mamelodi Sundowns according to coach Miguel Cardoso.

A strike from Kamogelo Sebelebele just before the interval was enough to separate the sides.

Though the shots at goal saw Sundowns just edge their opponents with their 11 attempts to the 10 of the hosts at Mbombela Stadium, the visitors completely dominated possession with 75% of the ball.

Cardoso revealed his thoughts on the clash in an interview with SuperSport after the game.

Busy schedule

“Sorry I didn't see [Galaxy dominate], we were dominant all game. TS Galaxy defended all game, obviously we didn't have the energy that we needed. It’s our fourth match in 72 hours,” said Cardoso.

“And we were penalised because of that. We had better chances, we should've scored but we were penalised with the goal in the last minute of the first half and we had no energy for the second one.”

Though the table-toppings Sundowns have played two more games than Orlando Pirates, the gap is nine points which means the champions still have a clear advantage.

“The lesson is continue to look forward and continue to work. I’ve always said it will be a long championship, not once have you heard me say something different than that.

“So my position today is exactly the same we will rise from today, and for sure we will come back even stronger.”

It will be sometime though, before Pirates are able to close the gap as they are only next in league action on February 19 away against Golden Arrows.
