Kaizer Chiefs have opted to register only 24 players for the Caf Confederations Cup for the moment, ahead of their opening match on Wednesday.
The Amakhosi will take on Zimamoto of Zanzibar at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday at 7.30pm.
The major names not yet in the squad list are strikers Gustavo Paez and Bhongolethu Jayiya, as well as midfielder Joseph Molangoane and defender Kgotso Moleko.
The front line will be led by Leonardo Castro, Bernard Parker and Ryan Moon, while there is another goal-scorer Khama Billiat among the midfielders.
“The club has elected not to fill all the spots as more players can still be registered at a later stage of the CAF Confederation Cup,” Chiefs said on their website on Monday.
Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas is feeling the pressure after the past weekend’s 2-1 Soweto Derby defeat to Orlando Pirates in the Telkom Knockout semi-finals in Durban.
So the Italian mentor will hope that the Amakhosi can get off to a winning start in the Confed Cup.
