Three suspects, including a domestic worker, have been apprehended in a house robbery plot, leading to the recovery of firearms, ammunition, and cash.

Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba confirmed that the arrests were the result of a joint operation by the Tzaneen Tracking Team and Detectives. The team was mobilised to hunt down suspects involved in a house robbery that unfolded early morning on March 30 in Aqua Park.

He revealed that the 26-year-old domestic worker, who was employed at the home, was arrested on Thursday and is allegedly the brains behind the robbery.

“The first arrest took place on Thursday, 03 April 2025, when a 26-year-old domestic worker employed at the targeted residence was taken into custody for perjury. Investigations revealed that she orchestrated the robbery by supplying information and access to the perpetrators.”

Mashaba further stated that ongoing investigations led to the arrest of two male suspects on Friday, each apprehended at different locations.

“One suspect, aged 39, was apprehended at a taxi rank in the Maake policing area and found in possession of a large amount of cash, including foreign currency believed to have been stolen during the robbery. The final suspect, aged 49, was arrested in Tzaneen and was also found in possession of a significant amount of suspected stolen cash in a foreign currency,” he added.

Police also recovered two stolen firearms with obliterated serial numbers, along with a cache of ammunition — including pistols, a rifle, and a shotgun — at a residence connected to the suspects. In addition, a third unlicensed firearm, unrelated to the robbery, was seized during the operation.

The three accused are facing multiple charges including house robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms.

Mashaba confirmed that the three suspects are scheduled to appear in the Tzaneen and Maake Magistrate’s Courts today (Monday), where they will be facing several criminal charges related to the robbery.

“The two male suspects will face charges of house robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, and possession of suspected stolen property. The female suspect will face charges of house robbery and perjury,” he said.

The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, commended the swift and coordinated efforts of the men and women in blue who were involved in the operation.

“This milestone achievement is a testament to the dedication and investigative expertise of our detectives. Their relentless efforts continue to yield positive results, bringing perpetrators to justice and ensuring the safety of our communities,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.

Mashaba stressed that the investigation is ongoing, and more arrests could follow.
