The funeral service of Glenwood High pupil Kaden Moodley is expected to take place on Friday, March 21, 2025. 

The 15-year-old,Grade 10 pupil collapsed and died on Tuesday afternoon during a warm up for a hockey match. 

Despite efforts by paramedics Kaden was a declared deceased on scene. 

His father Thevan Moodley told IOL that their family were devastated following his son's untimely death. 

His funeral is expected to take place at the Clare Estate Crematorium Hall on Friday afternoon. 

Kaden has a twin brother named Kellen, who is also devastated by the loss. 

Moodley said that he heard Kaden had been warming up by kicking a ball and then told his team they needed a substitute for the hockey game before collapsing. 

Tributes have been streaming in for Kaden on social media. Thousands of people have expressed sadness at the tragic death of the pupil. 

Among the tributes are from the KZN Department of Education. 

"As the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education, we recognise the immense grief felt by all who knew him.

"We will continue to work closely with Glenwood High School to ensure that the necessary psychological and emotional support is provided to learners, educators, and the bereaved family.

"We ask the community to keep the family in their thoughts and prayers. May the young soul rest in eternal peace."

The school in their tribute post said: "May a wonderful Glenwood boy rest in eternal peace."

Romi Gayadin on IOL's Facebook page said: "My deepest condlences to the parents  there is to much of activities for our children and heavy schools bags to carry and to much home work".

Mackey Moodley said: "So so sad to leave us so tragically at the tender age of 15. Our deepest condolences to the family of the late Kaden Moodley".

Lorraine Chetty added: "Gone to soon l pray for strength, comfort n healing over the family n rest well precious child".

Mfanufikile Hadebe said too: "Sad news, rest in peace  son. My heartfelt condolences to the family and friends".

Judy Veeran said: "My deepest condolences to the family Gods Strength n peace be with the family". 

Darrell Kirkham said: "RIP Caden I only got to meet you a couple of times when you were very young, you made your parents very proud  condolences to all the family".
