Social media users have roasted Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla for her apology to uMkhonto weSizwe’s (MK Party) Floyd Shivambu, but leaving her rant online, with some thinking that she still stands with the “f**k you” directed at Shivambu.
The controversy exploded after a post on Tuesday morning in which Zuma-Sambudla, the daughter of MK Party leader Jacob Zuma, unleashed on Shivambu, saying to him: “You are the worst thing that has happened to the MK Party".
Her posts on X, which included profanity and harsh remarks aimed at Shivambu sparked a storm within the MK Party, including that one of F**k you, Floyd.”
Facing expulsion by her father, Zuma-Sambudla eventually issued an apology, but conveniently left Shivambu’s name out of her apology letter.
But social media wasn’t having it. Netizens on X were quick to point out that her apology seemed a little half-baked.
“You apologise, but still on your timeline, you didn't delete the tweets,” @MechackBevhula. “Aii, this woman….”
Another user, @Mphoto_Agitator, joked: “F**k you, Floyd still stands😂.”
“Delete the old tweets then,” suggested @GeorgeBeatsSA.
@BhekzinMabele pointed out: ”You issued an apology but your tweets are still there and people are still commenting and you are enjoying it. No sister, we all get drunk sometimes and regret the things we did the following day, but you 🙌no. This is not an apology, you still need to face Floyd and sincerely apologise.”
Others were even more vocal about the lack of a direct apology to Shivambu, with @bxnzow asking, “Why are you apologising to your father and leadership??? Where is an apology to FLOYD SHIVAMBU?”
@Remiazania2 said: “Duduzile, you have done an immeasurable harm to the MK Party at a time when we are busy working on the ground in preparation for the next local government elections. The Secretary General is the engine of any organisation. Your apology without specifically asking for the apology from Floyd & deleting your posts is not worth it.”
“Rubbish of an apology!!” said @Ntombenhle124.
“You insulted and disrespected Floyd, yet you're still not apologising to him. MKP is going downhill from here and I feel sorry for the loyal supporters who voted for this party because this is just an insult to them.”
Zuma-Sambudla’s posts on Shivambu, who left the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) last year in August, has been embroiled in controversy within the party.
He has faced internal backlash from some party members over his leadership and changes to the MK Party constitution, seemingly without approval.
While some party members, especially in KwaZulu-Natal, are rallying behind Zuma-Sambudla, others have raised concerns over the direction of the party.
As the saga continues, social media users are eagerly watching to see if the family feud will get any messier.
