Hip-hop artist and businessman, Shawn Corey Carter, 55, commonly known as Jay-Z, has hit back at claims that he raped a 13-year-old in 2000 with Sean 'Diddy' Combs.
"These allegations are so heinous," he said in a statement.
An unidentified woman filed the rape case as a civil action. Jay-Z has hit back at the claims as 'heinous' and seeking to destroy his and his family's image.
He accused the woman's lawyer, Tony Buzbee of attempting to blackmail him and said they will not receive money from him.
"This lawyer, who I have done a bit of research on, seems to have a pattern of such theatrics. I have no idea how you have come to be such a deplorable human being Mr Buzbee," he said in statement.
He said he was prepared to deal with whatever was thrown his way. Jay-Z claimed his family would be impacted the most by this development.
"My only heartbreak is for my family. My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age (Blue Ivy) where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims and explain the cruelty and greed of people," he said.
"I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure such at a young age. It is unfair to try to have explain the inexplicable degrees of malice meant to destroy families and the human spirit."

He went on to say that his support goes to true victims of rape across the world. He warned Buzbee that he has made a 'terrible' error of thinking all celebrities are the same.
