Alfa Romeo's curvaceous new sports car is rearing to hit South African tarmac before the end of this year. What better way to whet the appetite than watching it hang its gorgeous tail out on the Balocco track in Italy?
Built at the Maserati factory in Modena, the 4C offers sizzling performance through its lightweight construction that sees it tip the scales at just 895kg.
Thus it doesn't need the biggest or most powerful engine on the block, its 1750cc turbopetrol engine - with 177kW and 350Nm on command - being enough to launch it to 100km/h in just 4.5 seconds and get it to 260km/h.
This motor is mated to a TCT twin dry clutch gearbox, which offers a race mode for driving conditions like you see in the video below.
Fiat South Africa expects the 4C to reach South Africa during the fourth quarter of this year, and you'll be able to take one home for R799 990.
Better get your name on that list, though, as Alfa Romeo will only be building 3500 of them each year.
