FIM World Superbike fans can look forward to a gorgeous new pace car at the Silverstone round of the championship on Sunday 4 August.
Top sponsor Alfa Romeo has unveiled the safety car that will do duty at the UK track - an Alfa Romeo 4C liveried in the red, white and green colours of the Italian flag.
Alfa Romeo's brand head Damien Dally enthused: “As we prepare to launch the Alfa 4C here in the UK, it's fantastic to be able to showcase this car to the public for a second time as it takes to the prestigious Silverstone circuit.”
Barring those external decorations, the safety car is all but identical to the 4C road car that's set to hit South African shores towards the end of this year, with the Launch Edition selling for R799 900.
Thanks to a concoction of aluminium, steel, carbonfibre and sheet moulding compound technology, the little sports car weighs just 895kg.
Yet the rear-wheel drive two-seater doesn't only rely on low weight for its performance figures - a 4.5-second 0-100km/h sprint and 260km/h top end, according to Alfa Romeo.
It is shoved along by a 1750cc turbo petrol engine rated at 177kW and 350Nm.
The motor is mated to a TCT twin dry clutch transmission that also offers a 'race mode'.
