Durban - Excitement is mounting as Durban's popular 9th Avenue Bistro is getting ready to move into its new premises at the old Cafe Fish site, situated alongside the Victoria Embankment.

Cafe Fish closed its doors back in 2013 after a disagreement between former management and Transnet property. In 2013, The Mercury reported that the landmark harbour restaurant's contract had not been renewed.

According to the report, VSM Investments rented the land from Transnet, which owned the land on which the restaurant was situated. At the time, co-owner, Wessel Jacobs, declined to pay the full rental amount as he was advised not to.

The restaurant's closing had a massive impact on locals who frequented the place. But, when 9th Avenue Bistro announced that they would be moving, there was massive applause!

Commenting on the announcement, many said they were thrilled at the new venue.

Lushen Nair said, "Definitely taking shape. Sure is gonna be a hit."

Daniyel Berry said, "Where the old Cafe Fish used to be? This was my favourite spot. I've been waiting for it to be snapped up. Super excited. Will definitely be wining and dining more with you."

Eric Apelgren said; "Happy to hear that the old Cafe Fish restaurant at the Durban yacht basin will be reopened under a new name and management."
