A couple of hints here and there indicate that Springbok fly-half Manie Libbok said “I do” to his long-term partner, Verna-Lee Arries, in Mossel Bay on Saturday, October 5.
We presume this is why Libbok was absent when his Stormers teammates took to the pitch in Italy to face Zebre Parma.
The couple, who have been together since their high school days, got married at Seeplaas, located between George and Mossel Bay, as reported by The South African.
The venue posted on Instagram on the day saying: “Important Notice. Saturday, 5 Oct 2024, we’re closing early at 12h00 for a wedding celebration.”
Despite it being such a big day for the couple, details of the event have remained largely under wraps, with neither the newly-weds nor their guests sharing any images from the day on social media.
However, Stormers fan Sardieq Slamdien took to X, to share what he knows about Libbok getting married, saying: “MANIE LIBBOK is getting hitched today by his teammates in Italy. Hope my boys can give him a wedding gift by beating the tails-up Zebre (who beat Munster last week).”

In July 2023, Libbok proposed to Arries during a romantic picnic at Klein Roosboom Boutique Winery in Cape Town.
In February this year, the couple had a joint bachelor and bachelorette party at La Parada at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.
During an interview with Insider SA, Arries revealed that Libbok was very shy and quiet in high school.
She added: “Being the girlfriend of a Stormers and Springbok player is quite normal because I love my normal life. But obviously, they are in the limelight, so you have to get used to a lot of stuff, especially the media. It can be stressful.”
We eagerly await confirmation by the couple, and hopefully a glimpse into the day.
