Media personality Somizi Mhlongo’s schooling journey is well underway at the prestigious Villioti Fashion Institute and he is even starting to make garments for clients.

Somizi, who has worn most of the country’s top designers is now wearing the designer's hat with his first creation being for his daughter, Bahumi Mhlongo.

For her appearance at the Brutal Fruit Spritzer, Bahumi enlisted her father to create an outfit for the event.

The former “Idols South Africa” judge sketched and sourced the fabric needed for his daughter’s dress to create a purple dress that perfectly fit her.

Bahumi slayed in her father’s creation and posed for pictures and videos at the event.

While Bahumi is Somizi’s first official client, he has previously made an outfit for presenter Moshe Ndiki.

Ndiki wore his Mhlongo creation for his Bona cover magazine cover and his green carpet appearance at the Earthshot Prize Awards in Cape Town.

Bahumi’s relationship with her father after her mother Palesa Madisakwane opened up about her co-parenting relationship with the flamboyant media personality and expressed her wishes for him to do more for their daughter.

In a separate interview on Engineer Your Life with Lungelo KM, Bahumi opened up about her experiences, from dealing with public perception to finding solace in her faith.

One of the most defining moments in her career came during a holiday conversation with her father. Seeking his advice, she was taken aback by his response.

“I asked him for guidance, and he said, ‘No, don’t do that.’ When I asked why, he looked at me and said, ‘No, don’t be like me.’ He said it with such conviction, and I felt the weight of it.”

That moment reaffirmed her belief that while she values her parents’ experiences, she must forge her path even if it means facing greater challenges along the way.
