Paris - Even in France, the land of love, an exhausting day at work kills the desire for sex, according to a study.

Seventy-two percent of 1,400 people surveyed in France said that the exhaustion of a long working day took away the desire for sex.

The phenomenon was particularly marked among managers, who often take work home, according to the study conducted by France Info radio station and daily Le Parisien.

Furthermore, 24 percent said work tensions had at some point led to sexual dysfunction.

For 61 percent of those surveyed, work was the most important thing in life - ahead of love, family and culture.

“People are paying a high price for it: feelings of guilt, divorce, uncontrollable children and chronic fatigue,” said Jean-Claude Delgenes, the director of Technologia, the institute that conducted the survey.

The researchers advised people to move closer to work to reduce their daily commute or switching to a job with greater independence, to be able to spend more time with one's spouse and children. - Sapa-dpa
