Johannesburg - Jacob Lebogo talks about sex.
The former Limpopo ANC Youth League secretary and Julius Malema’s ex-confidant appears to have heeded the hit song by the American female rap group Salt-N-Pepa.
Next Friday, he will host a “romantic pre-Valentine evening” event in a hall at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, where renowned sex therapist Dr Eve will speak.
“She will talk about sexuality, relationships and hygiene,” he said.
Lebogo, who is the owner of Pleasure Parlour adult shop in Polokwane, dumped politics for what he terms the sex revolution.
“This is a sex revolution, we are liberating our people to understand the importance of sex, to enjoy sex,” Lebogo said at his shop on Thursday.
He is out on bail after his nemesis, Boy Mamabolo, was shot in the abdomen at a gig last year, an issue he refused to talk about it.
Kerkel exercise balls, lubricants, vibrating cock rings and dildos are some of the products on offer for his women customers. For the men he sells masturbating toys, penis enlargement creams and performance enhancement products. Also available at the erotic shop are harness and strap-on devices.
But who are his clients? “We serve even professionals, whether lawyers, doctors, pastors, etc,” he said.
Lebogo pointed at a certificate that hangs on the wall, saying his business was accredited by the Film and Publication Board. “This is not a brothel, it’s an adult shop, pure retail, which sells items that will make a family stronger,” he said.
Sex was for procreation and recreation. “Hence we are saying there is never a dull moment. We’re trading happy moods for lovers, and for those who don’t have partners, we have items which entertain such people.”
Lebogo said some of his clients no longer hold conservative views about sexuality. “We have changed the mindset of lots of people, even those who never condomised before.”
He believes talking freely about sex will help strengthen relationships. His business promotes safe sex. “I get so impressed when I see people buying condoms. The intention is to create a sexually healthy society,” Lebogo said.
The business, which employs three people, is doing well, and there are plans to expand it to Lephalale and Modimolle.
Lebogo believes that women who wear lingerie are likely to spice up intimacy in their relationships.
“This thing of wearing political party or soccer T-shirts when you go to sleep must come to an end,” he said.
Tickets for the Friday sex seminar sell for R500 a person and R900 a couple.
