SOUTH Africans can have their say in the country’s tax matters by sending their tips to Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana.
The annual budget speech takes place on February 19 and citizens have a chance to share their views until the day before.
“Minister Godongwana looks forward to your contributions” reads the statement on the Treasury’s website.
However, the message stipulates that contributions must be concise and to the point, not longer than 300 words.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the budget allocation “aims to strike a balance between growing the economy and supporting the vulnerable amid limited resources”.
Godongwana has encouraged everyone to share their tips on the government’s spending priorities, addressing a large budget deficit, stabilising State-Owned Entity finances, energy funding solutions, tax revenues, debt sustainability, municipal finances and any other economy-related topics.
To share their views, South Africans can tag the department on its social media accounts by using the hashtag #TipsForMinFin and #Budget2025.
