South African rapper Rouge won the Best Micro Budget Film award for the New Era Sessions Film at the SAFTAs in Sun City on Thursday.
The film which accompanies Rouge’s debut album features entertainment heavyweights, Atandwa and Fikile Kani, the inimitable Denise Zimba and a debut appearance from Cassius Davids, depicts the story of a young woman on her journey of self-discovery.

The production is an immersion into her experiences as she deals with the highs and lows of falling in love, the delight of true friendship and the bitterness of betrayal.

It is an incredible accomplishment for not only me but for the incredible team that supported me and worked alongside me to bring my vision to life. As a woman artist, I am proud to help pave the way for future female artists to find their voice.” said Rouge.
