South African musician sensation Zee Nxumalo has reached a personal milestone that solidifies her status as a rising star.
Her hit single "Ngisakuthanda" has secured the No 1 position on Apple Music South Africa across all genres, marking her first-ever solo top placement in a mere six months since its initial release.
This achievement follows the track’s incredible success on Shazam, where it has outsold established artists like Cassper Nyovest, Yanga, and Kelvin Momo.
Shingai Darangwa, Nxumalo's co-manager at Punchline Projects, shared his excitement about the artist’s rapid rise: “Watching ‘Ngisakuthanda’ scale the charts and now claim the No 1 spot on Apple Music is a dream come true for the whole team.
"Zee’s remarkable growth in just the past few months, following a breakthrough 2024, has been incredible to witness. Her talent, hard work and authenticity have clearly resonated with music lovers across the country, and I couldn’t be prouder."
The single's success is further highlighted by its certification as multi-platinum in South Africa.
“Ngisakuthanda" is not only becoming a fan favourite, but it is also emblematic of the changing face of South African music, blending rich amapiano rhythms with elements of Afropop.
Alongside her chart achievements, Nxumalo is carving out a substantial digital footprint.
Her social media presence is skyrocketing, with over 100k subscribers on YouTube, 2M followers on TikTok, 1M on Facebook and 600k on Instagram.
In expressing her gratitude, Nxumalo shared: “I’m so grateful to every single person who has streamed, Shazamed or shared ‘Ngisakuthanda'. Seeing it hit No 1 on Apple Music and go multi-platinum is beyond anything I could have imagined.
"Huge shout out to TBO because he's a huge part of why this song is doing so well. This moment is for my team and my fans. Thank you for pushing me to new heights every day. I’m inspired to keep creating music that speaks to all of us, and I can’t wait to show you what’s next!”
