A year later, the group is stalked by a hook-wielding killer.
Prinze jr and Hewitt returned in 1998 for “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer” as well as the straight-to-video sequel “I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer.”
There is also an Amazon Prime Video series called “I Know What You Did Last Summer”, which ran for just one season.
Meanwhile, “Variety” has also reported that while details around the follow-up in the horror franchise is still under wraps but it is due to be released in cinemas worldwide in July next year.
The publication added that Prince jr will star in the film alongside Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers and Jonah Hauer-King.
"Everybody has to be happy with the script," he recently told “Us Weekly”.
He added: “There’s a lot of good things that make me want to do the movie.”

And while details of the sequel’s storyline have not been confirmed yet, “Variety” said that it will be helmed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who previously worked on the Netflix comedies “Do Revenge” and “Someone Great”.
She also co-wrote the script with Sam Lansky from a draft by Leah McKendrick, while Neal Moritz is returning as a producer.
