Murder charges have been dropped against Moja Love television presenter Xolani Khumalo, allowing him to return as the host of the popular show “Sizok’thola”.

Channel, Moja Love had terminated its working relationship with Khumalo in November 2023, but they have now made a u-turn on that decision.

In a statement, Moja Love announced that the fourth season of “Sizok’thola” would return with an “old favourite”, Xolani Khumalo, on screen. Season three of the show was hosted by “X-Repo” presenter Xolani Maphanga.

Khumalo had been facing charges of murder, robbery, and damage to property after Robert Varrie was allegedly assaulted in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni, in July 2023. On Monday, the charges were provisionally withdrawn to allow the state to continue its investigation.

The presenter expressed how he is grateful to be back on the channel, “a place that is home” to him.

Following Varrie’s death, Khumalo handed himself to the police at the Katlehong North police station. He was later arrested and appeared in court, where he was granted R20 000 bail.

“I have had an opportunity to reflect and I look forward to reconnecting with the amazing viewers and showcase my talent to Mzansi,” said Khumalo.

Season four of “Sizok’thola” will debut on Mzansi screens on May 4.

Moja Love’s new Head of Channel, Livhuwani Dagada, had positive remarks about the presenter returning to screens.

“Xolani is known for his authentic and on-air engaging presence and we have seen how he has built a strong connection with the viewers nationwide.

"His return will continue to strengthen the channel’s commitment in raising awareness on the plight of drugs and it’s impact in communities, with collaboration with law enforcement.”
