South African media personality and reality TV star Dineo Ranaka is back in the spotlight after sharing a video of her unfiltered thoughts on marriage.

The clip, posted by MDNews on X, sparked discussion as Ranaka reflected on her experiences, saying, “The most nonsensical thing I’ve ever experienced in my life was marriage.”

Ranaka tied the knot with mining engineer Klaas Pesha in a private ceremony, reportedly between late 2020 and early 2021.

However, the union ended abruptly after seven months. She later disclosed allegations of abuse and infidelity that marked the marriage.

She claimed Pesha physically assaulted her while she held their three-month-old baby. The divorce proceedings escalated tensions, with disputes over property as Pesha allegedly sought half of her assets.

Ranaka has been open about the trauma she endured, emphasising that walking away was a necessary step. She has often used her platform to encourage others in similar situations.

The reality TV star is a mother to four children, each from a different father. Despite the challenges of co-parenting, she has described her relationships with her first two baby daddies as amicable.

In the now-viral video, Ranaka dissected what she views as societal expectations placed on women in marriage.

“It does not make sense that an entire community of human beings would base the success of a contract that is supposed to be two human beings bound together, mutually beneficial, on one individual, the woman,” she said.

As usual, Mzansi’s X users had plenty to say.

@SandileKaMsibi commented: “Taking marriage advice from someone who flopped marriage is crazy business. I will take my Advice from someone who has been married for 50 years thank you. 🙏”

@israelphiri commented: “She is not giving the biblical view of marriage but the modern feminist view of marriage. This type of marriage will never succeed.”

"But, marriage is the worst decision ever made" 🙄“ @Jessica_Rarah wrote.
