Kanye West's tumultuous relationship with social media has taken another dramatic turn as he deactivated his X account following a tirade of recent anti-Semitic, misogynistic and racist comments.
In his last tweet before the deactivation, West expressed gratitude to Elon Musk, X’s owner, for allowing him to “vent”.
West described the experience as “cathartic” likening it to an Ayahuasca trip, saying: “Love all of you who gave me the energy and attention. To we connect again. Good afternoon and good night.”
Musk was urged by numerous social media users including "Friends“ actor, David Schwimmer and TV host, Piers Morgan to permanently ban West from the App.
In his latest string of posts, West blatantly declared, “I love Hitler” and proclaimed, “I’m a Nazi”, causing outrage across social media.
West’s account subsequently had a “sensitive content warning” added to it due to his use of offensive slurs.
During the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 9, while Kendrick Lamar headlined the halftime show, West fired off a rant targeting Swift, who was attending the event to support her boyfriend and Kansas City Chiefs player, Travis Kelce.
“If it's about the culture ... why are we letting Taylor Swift be seen on TV singing a song about taking a black man down and accusing of things that can take a black man down for life,” wrote Kanye in reference to Lamar's song “Not Like Us”.
In a bizarre twist, West also shared a brief Super Bowl advertisement promoting his Yeezy fashion line, filmed on his iPhone due to what he claimed was blowing his entire budget on “new teeth”.
This odd commercial aired immediately after his contentious tweets.
