Celeste Ntuli wins Comedian of the Year at the Comics Choice Awards, celebrating 20 years in comedy

South African comedian and actress Celeste Ntuli won the coveted Comedian of the Year award at the Savanna Comics' Choice Comedy Awards.

Ntuli, known as the queen of the Zulu comedy, won the top award as she celebrated 20 years of being in the industry.

“Grateful, last night was magic. I am the comedian of the year 2025.

“Celebrating 20 years as a comedian, this couldn’t have come at the right time. God’s timing is perfect timing! Delayed, not denied!

Ntuli has earned a reputation for her stand-up comedy delivery and is known for being the first local female comic to record a one-woman show DVD.

In a separate post, Ntuli expressed how she is always the one with words, but God has done the talking this time. The former “Isibaya” actress was showered with congratulatory messages from her followers and supporters.

Nina Hastie and Carvin H Goldstone hosted the 12th edition of the awards. The ceremony featured a line-up of hilarious MCs such as Mashabela Galane, Kagiso KG Mokgadi, Céline Tshika, Mel Jones, Thabiso Mhlongo, and Bexta.

Robby Collins was also one of the night's big winners, taking home two awards: the Best Solo Show Award and the Headliner of the Year Award.

Khanyisa Jam Jam won the Breakthrough Act of the Year; That's Not Funny won Best Comedy Show or Festival; The Eb Award was awarded to Khanyisile Ngwenya; Céline Tshika won the Innovative Comedy Performance Award; Noko Mashaba won the Sauce of the Year; King Flat won the Joe Mafela award and the Winners’ Choice Award was awarded to Sifiso Nene.
