THE Afriski Winter Fest, dubbed Africa’s highest altitude music festival, will be staged from August 27 to 30 at the Afriski Mountain Resort at Butha-Buthe in Lesotho. If you’ve ever dreamed of snowboarding, or skiing down a snowy mountain and into an epic music festival featuring popular entertainers, then this festival was made for you.

The music part of the Afriski event will include bands and DJ’s from around South Africa. While the acts will be sprinkled across the weekend, most artists can be seen on Saturday, August 29.

These include iScream & The Chocolate Stix and The Kiffness doing a DJ set. Then there’s Cape Town trio Chris Taylor, Jak Skandi and Viktoria who’ll also be on the decks. Upcoming Johannesburg bands, The Motherland and The Sextons, will also entertain with their unique playlist, while DJ’s Way Back When, Mehow and Black Sparrow round off the weekend’s entertainment.

Snowboarding and skiing will be available every day for beginners, intermediate and experts, with loads of ‘fun stuff’ activities planned. Punters can try their hand at everything from bum boarding to tubing, paintball and a “pond skimming” competition. All of this in the snow, and hopefully, in the sun.

This Lesotho venue also offers activities such as adventure bike ‘outrides’, abseiling, rap jumping and trout fishing

l Packages start from R3500, which includes accommodation at R2000, a food and beverage card and a weekend music festival pass.
