THE Crypt Jazz Restaurant in Wale Street will showcase the originality and artistry of female jazz vocalists and instrumentalists with Women in Jazz this month. The programme will highlight some of Cape Town’s top jazz bands, led by or comprised of women and will feature professionals as well as students.
It is hoped that the Women in Jazz month will capture the depth and diversity of the female jazz experience as well as engage young fans and musicians, and reach out to audience members who may never have attended a jazz concert before.
Enthusiasts can expect to see artists like Tina Schouw, Amanda Tiffin, Denay Willie, Sigrun Paschke, Emily Bruce, Titi Tsira, Erika Lundi, Fancy Galada and Adele Wyngaard. For big band fans, there will be two performances by the Delft Big Band conducted by Ian Smith.
The Crypt is open from Tuesdays to Saturdays and serves light snacks and dinner.
Live jazz features from Tuesdays to Thursdays at 7pm to 10pm and 8pm to 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays, with a cover charge of R55 a person.
