UP the Creek organisers are launching a new music festival, River Republic. Pack your bag and lilo for a medley of electro, pop, swing and folk, and bop on a grassy dance floor while bands give it their all on a floating stage – all from November 27 to 29 at Round The Bend Camp on the Breede River, Swellendam.
Punters can expect a weekend of beats, mayhem and mischief with a line-up of Veranda Panda, The Kiffness, Riders Connection (Germany), Southern Wild, Grassy Spark, Das Kapital, Jackal & The Wind, Kings Down South, Hugo.Hugh, Private Life, Stone Age Citizens, The Vanilla, The Robfather, The Liminals, Toby2 Shoes, Adrian Gemini, Sutherland, The Coast, Maramza, Jews for Techno and We Are Charlie.
The big cheese at the festival will be Riders Connection, an alternative pop group who blend reggae, soul and blues.
River Republic is being staged by Red Hot Events. Owner Annie Sowden says, “we have taken our experience to create something new not only for punters but also for our team. Our philosophy is to have fun and to constantly reinvent ourselves. After all, variety is the spice of life. Round the Bend, a space with rolling green lawns along the river banks, is arguably one of the most fun places on the planet to organise a party. With only 1500 spaces available, we cannot think of anything nicer than three days of cool music vibes with our fellow republicans!”
l Tickets: R850 for camping. Pre-pitched tents, chalets and self-catering units: www.riverrepublic. co.za, www.facebook.com/RiverRepublicFestival, twitter.com/RiverRepublic, #escapethecity.
